Film Screening Webinars & Public Speaking Interview Writing
I curated a public film series on Arab cities. These screenings generated broad and cross-disciplinary conversations on the Arab region, through accounts of cities and their transfiguration: the destruction of Homs, international border zones in Tangier, and the chronicles of Nazareth in the wake of the birth of the state of Israel.
I served as co-organizer for a talk series on Race & Architecture. This series generated broad and cross-disciplinary conversations on race, architecture, labor, black geographies, refugee camps, and design activism beyond the confines of academic discussions. I write interviews for herskhazeen.com. Click for my interview with Yasser Elsheshtawy ob the UAE Pavilion at the 2016 Venice Biennale. During my time in the Bay Area, I gave presentations geared to middle school and community college students (as part of the ORIAS speaker’s bureau, an established UC Berkeley initiative to help educators integrate global issues into their courses). My talks focused on borders and how they map onto human experience, from the U.S. Mexican borderlands to the refugee crisis in the Mediterranean.
